Tour Turkey: Suleymaniye Mosque in Istanbul

The Suleymaniye Mosque is located just a short 10 minute walk from the Grand Bazaar on Third Hill in Istanbul.

This is an Ottoman Imperial mosque and is the 2nd largest in Istanbul. The mosque was built by Sultan Suleiman by the architect Mimar Sinan starting in 1550 and finished in 1557.

The interior of the mosque is awe-inspiring with its openness and the light that floods in through the windows.

Its free to visit the Suleymaniye Mosque and it is open every day. If you are interested in touring the mosque, avoid going during prayer times because you will not be permitted to enter until the prayer time is over.
