Turkey Tour of Picasso
Picasso’s works depicting Bulls and bullfighting are displayed in sequence illustrating the way Picasso deconstructed his subject in a series of pieces that gradually become more and more abstract and symbolic of different aspects of the bull and the artist.
Similar pieces are found on the fourth floor. These pieces of art depict women as characterized in Picasso’s life. Picasso’s unique perspective on life in a period of history filled with turmoil and upheaval represents a love for original thought given more to impressions and less to the detail of the empirical senses. In place of the empirical Picasso focuses on the feelings behind perception. This allows freedom for the artist to use the shapes and forms that are easiest for their hands to form but requires a greater intellect on the part of the artist in presenting and selling their art.
While walking the gallary one can read about Picasso’s life, the influences upon his art and the method he used in developing a new class of art. One can read about his marriage to a young wife in his later years and come to know some of the charisma that made this man’s art so memorable. In the morning the museum is lightly trafficked and you can view these pieces in virtual solitude. Later in the day the museum is filled with visitors for art classes and museum sponsored programs.
