As the capital of Roman Asia Minor,Ephesus is still richly endowed with marble temples, mosaics and a 25,000-seat Grand Theater. The city, whosewealth and patronage supported its splendid architecture, was dedicated to the goddess Artemis. Her enormous temple was once considered one of the SevenWonders of the Ancient World. Ephesus is also one of the Seven Churches of Revelation in the Bible.
I highly recommend having a licensed guide when touring Ephesus. It is an amazing city with many stories to tell. If you are looking to read up on Ephesus or other biblical sites before or during your Turkey tour, I suggest reading Dr. Mark Wilson’s book, Biblical Turkey. You can buy it here at Biblical Anatolia. He is the Founder and Director of Asia Minor Research Center and one of the top experts on the Biblical History of Turkey.
